We are committed to protecting the environment

Fred Butler has received many national and international environmental awards for its innovative "deep fresh" cleaning process using recycled CO2 and for its efforts to promote ecologically sustainable business growth.

In March 2006 Fred Butler was the first textile cleaning company in Europe to receive the "Nordic Swan" award, one of Europe's most important environmental quality marks for exemplary environmental and consumer protection.

In 2007 Fred Butler received the "Blue Angel" environmental quality seal awarded by a jury from the German Federal Environmental Agency and the German Ministry of the Environment and Nature Conservation.

Fred Butler has been a member of Umweltpakt Bayern (Bavaria Environmental Pact) since December 2007. By joining this organisation, Fred Butler undertakes to act with environmental responsibility at all times in accordance with laws and regulations.

Fred Butler has been a member of Umweltallianz Hessen (Hesse Environmental Alliance) since June 2008.

EU LIFE Award

In 2006 a research project by Fred Butler received the second prize of the European Commission for its significance in the field of environmental policy. The project, in which Fred Butler joined forces with international partners, was able to prove conclusively that a cleaning process based on liquid CO2 and biodegradable washing agents is environmentally sound. The numerous reasons for this conclusion include: clothing retains its shape for longer and has a longer life, fibres and colour brilliance are protected, and textiles cleaned with liquid CO2 have significantly fewer chemical residues than textiles cleaned using conventional chemical methods (PER).

Memberships of environmental associations

Fred Butler receives its membership certificate for Umweltpakt Bayern (Bavaria Environmental Pact) in December 2007. The environmental package focuses on eco-friendly economic growth, primarily the proactive avoidance of future causes of environmental pollution, improved communication between industry and state administration and the reduction of excessive bureaucracy for businesses. The stated objective of the pact is to improve environmental protection in business operations.

Umweltallianz Hessen (Hessen Environmental Alliance) accepts Fred Butler as a member in Munich in February 2008. This collaboration between the political and business sectors focuses on voluntary environmental protection on the part of business enterprises, but also acknowledgement of personal responsibility and commitment in business and industry. In concrete terms, the Alliance has developed recommendations for action, codes of practice and specimen agreements to make work easier for all parties involved. Partners have established offices to clarify issues relating to waste, plant safety and industrial parks, set up a dialogue-based forum addressing the raw material economy, and launched joint projects on aspects including environmental protection for companies. Politics and business form strong partners in the Hesse Environmental Alliance, ready to master the challenges the future will bring in climate and environmental protection, and Fred Butler is among them.
